Hindleap Warren 2025 :) Young Voices January 2024Hello parents/carers!
Here you will find updates on how your wonderful children are getting along! We will aim to upload every evening but don't panic if it's not there straight away, we are extremely busy.
Kind regards,
Miss Bridger, Mr Langdon, Mrs Cushing and Mrs Patel
Day 1 - Tuesday
Our trip has started with lots of excitement, a beautiful boat ride, plenty of yummy food and of course, getting absolutely soaked! We arrived safely this morning, after travelling across from Portsmouth on a private boat that chopped through the waves and had a big lunch to give us energy for our first activity. We spent the afternoon completing lots of fun team-work activities and gaining our water confidence. The teachers weren't kidding - it was cold haha! Dripping wet, but still smiling, we quickly became hungry, which meant everyone ate very well at dinner time.
This evening we went crabbing and caught lots of different crabs and even a couple of shrimps - we were way better at it than Miss Bridger - think she was too impatient! Whilst half of us did that, the other half got into teams and tried archery. It was difficult but we used our resilience to keep going even when we missed, getting more and more accurate with each throw. Mr Langdon thinks he was the best but Mrs Patel and the other children definitely beat him with Mrs Cushing's team winning overall... You'll be glad to know we are all enjoying ourselves tremendously and are all safe and well. Now we are enjoying a story snuggled in our onsies and PJs ready for a nice night sleep.
Speak tomorrow - night <3
Day 2 - Wednesday
We all settled well last night. After brushing our teeth and a little bit of chatter with our roommates, we were fast asleep by 10pm and there wasn't a peep until 6:30am! Everyone filled up on an excellent, hot breakfast and we all got ready for an action-packed day!
Mrs Cushing’s and Miss Bridger’s group put on wetsuits and started the day with kayaking and paddle boarding. Safe to say we all had lots of fun despite the cold water with both us and the teachers learning to stand up for the first time! We played 'instructor says’ and 'shark attack' which was very difficult in a kayak and on a paddleboard. Some of us decided we were so enthusiastic that we didn’t want to wait to fall in and so leapt in with no fear! Miss Bridger told us she had never seen so many big smiles in the activity before. Mr Langdon’s and Mrs Patel’s group started the day with some keel boating. We all learnt how to be good sailing captains and enjoyed a lovely view. The boat tips so far when the sail is fully up that Mrs Patel was worried it would topple over (luckily the instructor told us that couldn’t happen).
With such a jam-packed morning we all were very hungry for lunch and ate well.
In the afternoon we switched round. Mrs Cushing’s and Miss Bridger’s groups tried keel boating and seemed to have very choppy waters so we had to learn fast how to steer the boat and put the sail up and down. Mr Langdon’s and Mrs Patel’s group braved the colder weather and hopped in the water for SUP and kayaking! Now we were so good at this that we played a ‘no paddle’ relay game that ended up with 6 of us on a kayak! Then as we wanted to get as wet as possible, we tried the instructors’ challenges of jumping in and moving around the kayaks and paddle boards. One of us even “crashed” into Mr Langdon and “accidentally” made him fall in.
After getting showered and warm we sat down for our relaxation time before eating a very scrumptious dinner and enjoying a special birthday girl’s cake.
Now we know you're all thinking, this must be it for activities but the teachers really like to wear us out, so we spent the evening prebuilding our rafts ready for tomorrow, eating ice cream and watching Moana 2.
After this eventful day, all our heads are ready to hit the pillow and we're fast aslee....zzzzzzzzz
Day 3 - Thursday
Today has been another fantastic day for us all. Sleeping seems better now we are all settled and we are beginning to get into the routine of things here. Breakfast was delicious yet again so we all ate lots to get us energized for a fun-filled day!
We all stayed together for the activities today which has been fun. We started off the morning with testing out the rafts that we built last night! They all floated... sort of haha! Then we finished off the session with a pontoon jump – we even made the teachers jump in too by chanting until they had no choice.
After lunch we set off to the beach, walking through the pretty town of Cowes. The sun was shining as we found a variety of beautiful shells, made beach pictures, played football and practised our skimming skills.
After dinner, it was time for the disco. We danced, sung, painted ours and Mr Langdon’s faces and wore a variety of glow bracelets and sunglasses. There was even a limbo competition and dance battle where we witnessed Miss Bridger doing the worm. We finished off with the ‘cha cha slide’, then went back and got on our PJs and listened to more of our story ‘The World’s Worst Teachers’.
We were very happy to get to our beds tonight as are extremely tired. ZZZZZZZ
