Roald Dahl Day 2019

On Friday 13th September, Year 5 celebrated Roald Dahl Day and dressed up as their favourite characters. It was the annual celebration of the author who wrote hugely popular and influential children’s stories like 'Matilda', 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', ‘The BFG’, ‘The Twits’ and 'James and the Giant Peach'.

We had a fantastic day and were really impressed with the children’s wonderful costumes! The children enjoyed activities such as; creating their own Dahl character and naming them, completing the ‘Mrs Twit’s wormy spaghetti challenge’ and learning to draw like Quentin Blake. We also tuned in to the BBC Teach 'Roald Dahl Day Lesson' where the theme was bravery. The children explored the concept of being brave, standing up for what they believe in and how they can use the power of words to change the world around them.
